Android 4.3 For ASUS Transformer TF101

Jelly Bean
Jelly Bean

Android 4.3 has barely been released and I already read the other day that CyanogenMod is working on getting 4.3 up and running. Exciting times. Of course, the big question for those of us still clinging to the Transformer TF101 is whether we will see 4.3 as well?

Up until now, I’ve been using the TeamEOS4 ROM for my TF101. I explained in a previous post how making the leap, rooting my TF101 and loading a custom ROM was the best decision I could have made. Although TeamEOS has now merged their resources with another project, the EOS 4 ROM lives on as KatKiss and as of this week, I have switched over to this ROM as well.

However, one thing that I did notice in the message that was left on the TeamEOS ROM thread was this:

We’re (bigrushdog and CodeFireX guys) going balls to the wall getting 4.3 running. So likely next build will be 4.3. So it may be a bit of time still. Watch the general thread for updates and info.

The general discussion thread on this new effort can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375257

So, for now we wait. The KatKiss ROM is a fine continuation for now and I’ll stick with that for the time being although I will be keeping an eye on any 4.3 developments.

What are your thoughts? Are you happy with 4.2 or are you ready to go the first experimental 4.3 build available?

Update 8/7/2013: Timduru has released a beta of Android 4.3 for the TF101 just days ago. Read more about it in this post.

I'm just one of those guys that like technology...as well as drawing, writing, reading, coding and a whole bunch of other things I rarely have time for.

  1. Does anyone know how long katkiss rom upgrade take? I flashed my tf101 with rogue rom and installed katkiss 4.3.25 & gapps-katkiss and upon reboot i can see the dog/circles animation on screen. However this has been going on for the past 20-25 mins or so. Can someone please advise if this is normal or if anything went wrong? I didn’t see any error message during root & installing custom rom’s. How long does the whole upgrade take?
