The one aspect I love about the Humble Bundle website is that if you’re a gamer, you can grow your collection relatively quickly for cheap. Their constant bundling of games from a wide variety of genres is sure please everyone at some point.
However, the Humble Bundle site does more than just games. Their bundles often consists of literature, from books about learning Python to comic books to fiction. Once in a while, there’s even something for those of us that are writers.
Right now is one of those times.
One of their current bundles is called the Maps Extravaganza. It’s a packaged that contains over $300 worth of software, some of which you can get for just a $1 while you’d have to pony up $30 to get the whole thing.
Obviously, not all writers use mapping software to plan their stories but I know some do. I’ve seen some of their elaborate works. I’ve made a few of my own. It’s a great way to get a better sense of the world you are creating.
Now, the Maps Extravaganza software seems aimed more at those that play tabletop roleplaying games but if you write fantasy or stories set in the medieval times, this package may just be somethat that’ll be worth it for you.
Here are the different tiers and what you get.
For $1
- Token Treasury: Monsters
- Battle Maps Collection
- Floorplan Collection
- Tome of Ultimate Mapping
- Perspectives 3
- Campaign Cartographer 3+ One Year License
- Source Maps: Castles
- Source Maps: Temples, Tombs and Catacombs
- Symbol Set 2: Fantasy Floorplans
For $30 and up
- Campaign Cartographer 3+ Lifetime license
- City Designer 3
- Dungeon Designer 3
For me, the City Designer 3 package appeals the most. It seems to be the one package that would be the most fluid across genres.
Either way, check it out. At the time of writing, you have two weeks to decide whether it’s something you want to do. Remember, with Humble Bundle, part of the proceeds always go to charity so not only are you getting something that may help you, you’re also helping others.
